Chuck received a Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture from Ohio State University and started his career working as a Tree and Shrub Specialist for Chemlawn in the 80’s. Eventually Chuck joined the family business, The Andersons Inc., that today has grown into a $5 Billion publicly traded enterprise, in over 100 locations in North America, including Ontario. The company today includes five businesses including Grain handling, Ethanol production, Rail car repair and leasing, Consumer Retail and Plant Nutrients.
Chuck began his career with The Andersons in the Turf & Specialty Group as a Research Assistant and Product Technician. He then led the Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement functions for TSG, where he received the C.E.O award for realizing significant bottom-line savings. Chuck’s role then expanded to include leadership over R&D, Intellectual Property, Technical Services, and Product Line Management, where he led the effort to construct the Dispersible Granule pilot plant, followed by the full-production facility in 2008. Because of Chuck’s leadership The Andersons received the prestigious $5 Million Research and Commercialization grant from The Ohio Department of Development and obtained over 20 patents.
